About

Hand me the household — you just rest

I trained professionally in Shanghai, earning Senior Maternal & Infant Care and Senior Infant Care certifications in 2015, and a Senior Lactation Specialist qualification in 2020 with a grade of “Excellent.” After moving to the United States I completed the OB Maternity Academy Postpartum Doula & Newborn Specialist certification, and I hold both American Heart Association BLS and American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid credentials.

Over the years I have worked with families in California, New York, Massachusetts and Florida — many of them first-time parents. My job is not only the baby: while the baby sleeps I wash bottles, simmer soup and tidy the kitchen; when a mother is engorged I get up at 3 a.m. to help. Clients often say I “see the work before it is asked for” — and that is exactly how I like to work.

I'm easy-going, gentle and straightforward to live with, with no criminal record and no adverse credit history. I am available for long-term, live-in placements.

The 4-Week Plan

Clear · Restore · Nourish · Strengthen

Confinement is not simply a month of lying down. The body needs something different each week, so I adjust the meals and the care rhythm week by week.

Week 1

Clearing lochia & swelling

Focus
Encourage the uterus to contract; clear lochia and excess fluid.
Diet
Light and simple — no heavy tonics yet. Shenghua soup, millet congee and fish broth to reduce swelling and rebuild strength.
Body
Plenty of bed rest and quiet recovery; avoid exhaustion and chill.
Week 2

Restoring digestion & blood

Focus
Restore digestive function so the body can absorb the nourishment that follows.
Diet
Gradually richer: protein and iron — lean meat, red date soup, sesame-oil liver — to begin rebuilding qi and blood.
Body
Gentle walking to support circulation and continued lochia clearing.
Week 3

Nourishing & boosting supply

Focus
Full nourishment of qi and blood, support for liver and kidney, stronger milk supply and joints.
Diet
Sesame-oil chicken and rich, warming broths.
Body
If breastfeeding, close attention to breast care and keeping ducts clear.
Week 4

Strengthening & returning

Focus
Consolidate the month's work; rebuild immunity and stamina.
Diet
Transitioning back to a normal diet, still warm and easy to digest — nothing cold.
Body
Settling into a regular rhythm, ready for life after confinement.

Ms. Wang works efficiently — handling the baby, the cooking and the housework single-handedly, with genuine affection for our child. I came home from the hospital still very weak, and she had the house in order almost immediately. She varied my confinement meals daily with nourishing soups; two months later my postpartum anemia had resolved and my supply had gone from a few drops to everything the baby needed. What touched me most was how she anticipated everything — pump parts always ready to use, fresh soup always on the stove, cut fruit always on a plate. The baby gained six pounds and nine centimetres in two months, ate and slept on a regular rhythm, and came through jaundice and the two-month fussy period safely. Thanks to her, the weakest period of my life is a memory full of happiness.

Hiring Ms. Wang for my confinement month genuinely took the weight off. Feeding, burping, bathing, gas-relief exercises — all done deftly. What moved me most: when the baby was spitting up badly and could not lie down to sleep, she held him upright through entire nights so he wouldn't choke. Her greatest strength is lactation and breast care. In the first days home my ducts were badly blocked and my chest was hard as stone; she talked me through it while skillfully expressing and applying heat, and simmered lactation soups specially — that is what got me through the worst days of engorgement. If you want a confinement nanny who does real work and takes the baby seriously, I recommend her wholeheartedly.

She has a real eye for what needs doing and strong initiative — everything concerning the baby was impeccably organised. Whenever the baby cried she responded immediately; when he was awake she engaged him in play and did his gas-relief exercises, which kept his bloating well under control. Shortly after birth he had heat rash on his face and body; her experience showed in how carefully she treated it, and within two days it had faded. His skin stayed clear and fair afterwards. She is cheerful and warm, communication was easy, and the whole experience was reassuring.

Ms. Wang is exceptionally professional, sincere and responsible. When I was engorged and struggling, she got up in the middle of the night to help clear the ducts, over and over, without a word of complaint. When the baby came home his suck was weak and he would tire before finishing a feed; she used her training to teach him tongue-pressing exercises, and his feeding gradually grew strong. Through his two-month colic she soothed him tirelessly at night. Around the house, the kitchen and bathroom were spotless; her cooking was nutritionally balanced and she put real care into the meals and desserts. Her presence gave our whole family security and warmth.

Ms. Wang is quick-eyed, devoted to the baby and cheerful by nature. The moment the baby stirred she noticed, and she would soothe him while talking to him — telling him what they were about to do, treating him as a small person to be respected and spoken with. That was wonderful. Her care is meticulous: not just what looks clean, but every small crease. She gave me real emotional support too. Early breastfeeding was so hard I nearly gave up; she never made me feel guilty about my supply — she adjusted my positioning, set up a comfortable feeding space, praised the baby's latch and praised my persistence. Even the limescale in the steriliser tray she scrubbed out repeatedly. Watching her manage everything alone, you really do feel that one person can be an entire team.

I am so grateful for our confinement nanny. We are first-time parents with no experience at all and were floundering at the start — thank goodness she was there. She is highly professional: not only was the baby beautifully cared for, she constantly taught us practical things, including which purchases were worth it and which were a waste of money, which saved us a lot of wrong turns. On day three or four postpartum I was severely engorged and blocked; on her very first night she worried I would spike a fever and worked on it until three in the morning. Throughout the month I kept developing lumps, and she massaged and cleared them almost daily — skilled and genuinely effective. She is cheerful and gentle, and talking with her simply lifts your mood. I recommend her enormously: dependable, and warm with it.

We truly loved having Ms. Wang. She stayed until the baby was two months old and carried us smoothly through the legendary two-month fussy period — our baby barely cried, ate and slept well, and grew quickly. On her first day she reorganised the nursery entirely. Within the first week she resolved the baby's diaper rash quickly and expertly (our previous nanny had handled it poorly), and it never came back. At night she settled him attentively and sang him to sleep. She bathed and swam him daily and did his massage routine — he loved it. She is sunny and open, and that time was calm and happy for us. I recommend her sincerely, and will be recommending her to every friend I have.

On her very first day she organised the kitchen and the nursery — tidy and spotless — and it made me feel warm and safe immediately. She has a lovely personality: cheerful, easy to talk to, a pleasure to be around, and she shared a great deal of valuable parenting experience with me. On days three and four postpartum, engorged and blocked, I had her tireless lactation massage to relieve it. Under her care the baby scarcely cried and stayed emotionally settled. Later, when his burps were difficult to bring up, she spent as long as it took, patiently, until he was comfortable. I'm deeply grateful for her attentive care and her guidance.

★★★★★

First, Ms. Wang genuinely loves children — when something is wrong she is more anxious than we are, and she responds to crying instantly. Handing the baby to her, you relax. Second, she sees the work: wherever help is needed she gives it, without being told, and usually before you have thought to ask. She is a master of time — the baby comes first, but the moment he settles she is washing bottles, making up feeds, cooking. Third, she doesn't keep score. Some nannies do strictly what's in the contract; she treats your home as her own. On her last day my parents visited and she cooked for them too; when we moved furniture she took an end. When it mattered, she genuinely took on the things a mother in confinement cannot do.

Los Altos, CA
★★★★★

Ms. Wang Ying was an exceptional confinement nanny for our newborn and my postpartum needs. Being first time parents, we learned so much from her. I always felt that our baby was in good hands because she is such an expert in newborn care and loves what she does. She also cooked nutritious and delicious meals for me as I recovered from a c-section. My husband and I are grateful for Ms. Wang Ying's help during my confinement period. I would highly recommend her services to anyone looking for newborn and postpartum care.

Fresh Meadows, NY
★★★★★

Her greatest strength is how invested she is in the baby — if he cries or is uncomfortable, she is more worried than we are. Under her care he rarely fussed. During his colic in February he slept badly, and she stayed up all night doing whatever made him more comfortable; during my night feeds she sat with me, ready to burp him. She works fast — soon after arriving she had the house in order, especially all the baby's things. Beyond the housework she came with us to doctor's appointments and to the shops more than once; and when I was hospitalised with a high fever from mastitis during my confinement, it was she who stayed with me at the hospital. I'm so grateful for her hard work, which carried us calmly through the frantic first two months.

FAQ

Questions you may have

Where do you work? Will you travel?

I'm based in New York and travel to families across the United States. Past placements have been in California, New York, Massachusetts and Florida. Travel costs for out-of-state work are set out clearly in the quote.

How far ahead should I book?

Two to three months before your due date is ideal. Peak seasons — late in the year and early spring — fill up quickly, so earlier is better. Last-minute enquiries are welcome too; if my calendar allows, I can start quickly.

What do you need for a live-in placement?

A private room to rest in — ideally near the baby's room so I can respond at night. I bring my own personal necessities.

Do you cook the confinement meals? Can they suit my constitution?

Yes — all meals and soups are cooked by me. My lactation training included constitution assessment and adapting confinement meals accordingly, so I adjust week by week to your body, your recovery and your taste: light and diuretic in week one, building to richer tonics later. Please tell me in advance about allergies or foods you avoid.

Do you have experience with c-section recovery?

Yes. Recovery after a caesarean follows a different rhythm — wound care, when to get up, and how quickly to advance the diet all need more caution. I've supported a number of mothers through c-section recovery and will work within whatever your doctor has advised.

What languages do you speak?

I work in Mandarin Chinese. I have also cared for English-speaking families and manage day-to-day communication fine — if English is the main language at home, let's talk it through at the consultation so we're both comfortable.

Will the baby's routine fall apart after you leave?

It shouldn't. I establish feeding and sleep rhythms during the placement and hand over a complete written routine before I leave — volumes, intervals, settling methods and things to watch for. Clients have told me the handover made the transition smooth.

Have you been background checked?

Yes. I have no criminal record and no adverse credit history, and can provide documentation at the interview. All of my employer reviews are public on nanny.fyi.
